What about vinegar?

I was explaining BBB to my husband, and also mentioned that I needed to get so muriatic acid to lower the pH. He asked "why not use vinegar?"

I'm not very good at chemistry, so to me it seems like a valid point. I'm sure there is some reason, otherwise I would think it would be part of BBB.

So....anyone want to enlighten me?

Vinegar is too weak of an acid. Muriatic acid is way more acidic.

Also, acetic acid will add organics to the pool, though they are pretty soluble. We generally don't add unnecessary chemicals to the pool. With Muriatic Acid, the only leftover will be more chloride salt.
