Question aboug shocking and testing..

So my FC was at 3 and my CC was at 2.5.. So I put in chlorine up to shock level at 20 , with me at CYA 45. My question is, after I shock I notice sometimes my FC does not go up alot, definitely not up to shock level on the tests.. Does this mean it is eating away at the algae, etc. which is preventing my FC from going up alot?

yep- it means it is doing its job! keep testing/adding clorine til it holds...

When I shock again after an hour or two if my CC is still high, I still go to shock levels correct? so If I am at 3 fc, find out how much chlorine I need to get to "shock level" of around 20 correct?

Ok.. I have gone through like 30 bottles of bleach in 2 days.. Hopefully this ends soon... My neighbors are looking at me funny with all these bleach bottles... It doesn't help that my wife is not home... LOL

Add a couple of extra ppm ABOVE what you THINK your shock level should be due to variations and interpretaions of the CYA test. Won't hurt a thing.
