Cleaning Stairs

I have stairs leading into my shallow end. When we had the pool deck poured there was some stuff sprayed on the concrete and some of it got into the pool. It was floating on the top of the water and it has left a ring around the stairs at the water line.

What is a safe way to clean the stairs? I have tried using just a brush, but no luck.

If the stairs are brushed stainless steel, how about an new yellow/green 3m scrubsponge. I use the green side on our kitchen stainless sink, but it is not polished. If polished, try a Mr. Clean magic eraser.

As Dman mentioned, the Magic Eraser is really good at cleaning those types of problems.
