Recently purchased a 1 hp 2 speed pump to replace a similar Hayward 1.5 hp single speed pump. Per the manual, "Discharge pump will only rotate 1/4 turn" The whole housing and basket spins 360 degrees. When I remove the C clip, I was able to successfully orient the discharge to horizontally but the whole housing still spins.
The old pump does not spin and has the same rotating feature. Unfortunately I've had the pump in a box for a month and discovered it today when I was off work to install it.
Anyone familiar with this pump and if so is mine broken? I tried desperately to find a number for Hayward but no luck. The contact form doesn't even allow you to state your issue. Bought the pump from Amazon. Don't want to return if there is no issue - I just want to be done.
