Lower Chlorine with UV light?

I have seen on many UV light sites that they claim you can run with 0.5 ppm chlorine residual chlorine in the pool if you use their UV light. What do the experts here think?

If I had to guess I would say it is not recommended. If it were true wouldn't we be able to run a SWG pool at 0.5, since the water passes through the cell that has the high concentration?

Thanks for the advice!

Correct, UV doesn't help you run at a lower FC level. UV is best at eliminating CC, which really isn't much of an issue for a residential outdoor pool. UV is most effective on indoor or public pools. While UV can kill algae passing through the plumbing, this does hardly anything to help fight algae in the pool.
