Scroll vs twin piston

Hi,

Summit still uses both these types of compressers. Is there a difference in terms of reliabiliy?

For this type of application scroll compressors are the way to go, the service life on scroll compressors has historically been worse than hermetic piston units, having said that a lot of money has been spent improving scroll designs, and today I would consider most of them on par or better than piston style compressors in this size range. Piston units still win on larger compressors (above 5 - 10HP) and those that need low temperature operation.

so if your saying there on par at this size, Im assuming that a two year old unit with a piston compressor and a titanium exchanger would be good for a few more years before servicing.
