I am newbie and thinking of building a fiberglass pool with a seperate spa. what is involved in maintaining the spa? how does it heat? is the water filtered? is it easier to just get one that is attached to the pool? any help is appreciated.

If the spa will be separate and not part of the pool's water circulation, then you 1st need to decide if you will use chlorine or bromine to sanitize the spa. A spa will need a heater. Freestanding spas usually have a heater included. If you build a spa you will need to decide whether to use gas or electricity to fuel the heater.
