Hello! Lots of helpul topics on here. I am in Dallas, have a pool that i didnt pay much attention to for 3 years until I re-plastered last week. Pool service handles all of the maintinance, but now that i have fresh plaster i plan to get involved.

Welcome.

If you are going to "get involved," you really need your own test kit. Pool school has a section explaining the tests and what you need. With you living in Texas, I suspect high Calcium will be a concern, so get a speedstir. It makes the CH test bearable.

The pool service I fired used test strips! Which explains why, when I first tested my water with a proper kit, pH was off the scale, CYA was somewhere around 220-240... So much for hiring a professional!

how do you add a signature? It looks and i read that it is helpful for others to see to know how to adress issues with pool if general stats are known.
Oh yes, very helpful!

Go to User Control Panel (under TFP logo, top left of page), select Profile, then select Edit Signature.
