Hey all

I'm planning on taking 6 pools to BBB this season.

I'll substitute Borax for "pH up". How high can I let the borite level go??

Last year the plaster pools were new, so we used a bunch of acid. I plan on only adding the Borax to raise the pH, when needed.

Any input will be helpful :-D

You don't want the borate level going over 80. However, if you are only using borax to raise the PH you are unlikely to get anywhere near that level. For example with TA fairly high at 120 so it takes more borax to raise the PH, raising PH from 7.2 to 7.8 with borates will only raise the borate level by about 5 1/2. If you did that every week I suppose you might get to 80 eventually.

If you constantly need to increase the pH, then you should probably increase the TA. This will help you reduce the total amount of Borax needed. Water dilution from backwashing and refilling will also help offset the rate of Borate buildup.
