Waste valve

Not sure what to call this so maybe that's why I can't find anything in a search.

My Hayward filter lets water run out of the waste hose even when it is in the normal mode. It does not come out with any pressure but it will still flow even if the end of the waste hose is above the water line. In fact, I have tied it off so that it dumps the water in the pool rather on the ground.

Is this common/easy to fix? Thanks in advance. Steve

Sounds like you might be in need of another multiport valve spider gasket.

Ahhh, that's what a spider is. My valve is a SP 714 TX, Hayward Vari Flo XL. Thanks!

For the SP 714 TX Vari Flo valve, the spider gasket is only available glued to the diverter.
It is called a Key seal assembly or Diffuser with gasket glued in.
part # SPX0714CA
It is around $35.
