    Need Serious Help Fast.

Just got my pool redone, this means chipped all the way to the gunnite and replastered. And now as im filling it its about half way finished I see a shot load of rust stains popping up. So I stopped filling it at halfway like a friend told me and called the people who done it who have yet to return my call. Why is it rusting like this? Should I cancel the second half of the payment? Anyone have any ideas or thoughts on this? Its an inground pool. I do have pictures of before and after which I can try to post. All I did was run water from the hose to the pool which they are the ones who actually did that cuz they said I could start filling it as soon as they were done.
dont know how many gallons i got but if i remember correctly the pool is about 20'wide and 32' long and goes from 4 to 8 foot. I think i remember someone telling me about 35k in gallons but i could be off.

If it's iron in your water, try holding a vit c tab against it to see if the stain lifts. Regardless, you should get the PB out ASAP and if possible hold back payment until the job is done to your satisfaction. If there was a contract, did it include ensuring the new plaster start-up?

Don't stop filling. If you stop filling there will be a permanent line at the current water level and the plaster above there might not get enough moisture to cure properly.

Do you have a plain plaster finish, or is there something extra, pebbles, quartz, etc, in the plaster?

Plain plaster. I don't know what you mean by getting the PB out asap sorry. Are y'all sure I should keep filling it? I was told by a friend who is a pool cleaner to stop filling it. Also filling it will take time and more on the water bill which is already ooutrageous from draining it and filling it as high as it is. Also with them using my water to mix their ingredrients like the concrete and plaster.

    Re: NEED SERIOUS HELP FAST.

I would follow Jason's advise - DON'T STOP FILLING THE POOL! THE PLASTER WON'T CURE PROPERLY!! The pool builder probably won't cover any problems related to not filling the pool! Your pool cleaner friend is not a replastering specialist and I don't think he's going to cover any damage you might cause by following his advice. Continue filling the pool and do whatever you have to to get the pool builder (pb) out there asap to find out what the problem is. Hold back on the final payment till the problem is taken care of to your satisfaction.

Please keep filling it, whatever has been done by using your water to mix the plaster and fill the pool can be dealt with more readily than the plaster curing issues mentioned by Jason.

    Re: NEED SERIOUS HELP FAST.

Not to be piling on, but new plaster needs to stay wet. You don't want the pb (pool builder or in your case plasterer) to say you have voided your warranty by not filling the pool as per instructions. The pb should be able to treat the pool and get rid of the stains.

Try using photobucket.com to host your pictures. It is free and fairly easy to use.

    Re: NEED SERIOUS HELP FAST.

Ok the hose running again but in the grand scheme of things I only missed maybe two hours of my slow hose pipe filling the pool so as slow as it is im thinking I didn't miss a whole lot. So should I get into the pool and put a vitamin C tablet by one of these rust looking spots?

Could it be the hose that was put in the by the PB? Im thinking it can't be cuz the rust spots aren't around the hose except for one in the deep end. Also putting the pictures on pgotbucket at this time.

A 20' x 32' pool is unlikely to be more than 28,000 gallons and is probably much less than that.

Alright, having seen the pictures I will update my size guess to between 28,000 and 30,000. The shallow end is smaller than most and the corners are squarer than most.

My new pool had to be drained and acid washed due to splotchy appearance of plaster (pebblefina). The PB is paying for cost of water to refill plus new startup chemicals. If yours has to be drained for rework due to the staining I would expect your PB should do the same.
