I can't shock my pool

Call these guys - if they are still alive...

Richard, you need the proper materials to shock with. A toaster wouldn't shock a goldfish bowl! What you need to do is go to Best Buy and get the largest 3D television they have and pay cash for it. Take it home, tune in to "Oprah" and chuck it in the deep end! (Be sure to wear the 3D glasses for optimum effect!)

If you've got any overhead high-voltage power lines around, you could get a long metal chain, put one end in the pool, and throw the other end over the power line. That should give the pool a good shock

Shocking is a process:
Voltage doesn't kill, amperage does.
In order to pass enough current, add a few extra bags of salt first.
Then drop the the ground clamp of a Lincon Arc welder in the water.
(Hint)If you go to a boating store, you can get a couple large zinc anodes and put one on the ground clamp and one on the stinger.
Drop in the water and crank up the amperage to 225 amps.
Turn on the the welder.
This will quickly toast any biologicals in the water, even chlorine resistant crypto and gardia.
