Living in west coast of Florida and its been raining none stop for 24 hrs and it looks like a few more days of heavy rain. What is the best thing to do after the rain stops?

Test your water and see if you need to bump up any of the chemicals. Have you had to drain the excess water from the pool?
Many, many pool owners are concerned that rain drastically affects your pool water chemistry. It doesn't.
Common sense tells us that a pool with an average depth of 48 inches receiving 2 inches of rainfall generally dilutes everything in the pool by around 4%.
So, if your CYA was 50ppm, it's now 48ppm!!
If your FC was 5ppm, it's now 4.8ppm!!
pH can take a more significant hit but it's not gonna' drop or rise precipitously regardless.
The REALLY big exception to this is if you have an inground pool that gets flooded. All bets are off if you have surface water draining into your pool.

My pool (not to far from yours) flooded over this morning from the heavy rain. That's at least 6" inches of rainfall here in Pinellas County!
Circulate the water so it all mixes well, then test it and dose accordingly. Pool Calculator should be one of your bookmarks. Vacuuming helps mix the water well, too. I've found pH remains fairly stable, everything else dilutes. If you need to lower the water level, do that before adding anything; why treat water you're going to dump?csoukup6 said:
