CC test with kit

Was just testing our water to get it set up for closing. When we were doing the CC test and added the R-0003 drops the solution didnt actually turn "pink" but got a pinkish tinge to it. Does this mean we have CC levels or should the solution actually turn bright pink :? :?:

If the CC is very low the solution can turn a vary faint shade of pink, or even just slightly cloudy without an obvious pink. I would expect one drop to turn the water clear and that means you have CC of 0.5 or less (which is fine).

It was actually 3 drops to turn it clear. Our other numbers were:

FC 19
CC 1.5
TC 20.5
TA 170
CYA 90
PH 7.2

Jason could you give us some recomondations please before we close or can we go with these numbers. We are going to put a leaf net over our solar pool cover and run the pump during the night for a few hours each day for freezing puposes. Once the leaves are ALL off the trees near the pool my plan is to remove it. Do we still need to get some algicide an add it ?Chlorine is high because when we joined this forum we had an algae bloom and shocked the pool. Our solar cover has been on since to try to keep the heat in the water for the Mrs. Should we shock the pool as well, or check chem levels until we reopen it in the spring ?

With CC of 1.5 it would be best if you can give the pool sunlight during the day and only use the solar cover at night. It would also be good to keep FC up a little higher (perhaps 23) till CC goes down to 0.5 or lower.

If you are using just a leaf net, it is best to clear out the leaves every couple of days to once a week. You don't want them sitting in the water for weeks. Any time you have the leaf cover up you might as well check at least the PH and adjust if needed.

Ok, we took off the solar cover and shocked the pool to a level of 23ppm,wife is going to check chlorine in the morning to double check level . We are going to leave the solar cover off until the CC level drops to 0.5 or 0.0 then adjust the PH to 7.0 - 7.2 and throw the leaf cover on and see what happens!
