How Much Should A Salt Sensor Cost?

Hi, My pool guy just quoted me $575 to replace a salt sensor which is used to read, diagnose and activate my chlorinator. This seems excessive. Where can you buy the older style thread type sensors? Is this an easy or hard thing to install yourself?

Welcome to TFP!

A salt sensor is usually under $100, plus something for the install. $575 seems excessive. That is about right for replacing the main circuit board, but they should have said that if that was what they were doing. I can't give you a more detailed answer unless you tell us what brand and model of SWG you have.

When you say old style threaded sensor it makes me think you have a jandy aquapure.. If that's the case a sensor at wholesale cost is 172.00... A sensor is real easy to install in most cases..
