    PVC Piping question

I just installed a new pump (Hayward) and filter system. I used pvc for the whole system and used the weld (glue) to put it all together. I have a very small leak where the pvc pipe screws into the pressure side of the pump.

To fix it I am going to have to cut the pipes and reinstall a new threaded end into the pump.

My question is should I put some unions in that thread together so that any future issues do not cause me to have to cut the pipes? Are there any problems using these close to the pump vibration?

nope...regular sch80 unions you can find at home depot will do just fine. Get a strap wrench too. I have about 8 of them and makes winterizing a snap

Thanks. A friend had told that it has not good to have the union close to the pump as the vibration would cause them to loosen up and leak.

You should be fine. Chances are you can unscrew your fitting and put some pipe dope suitable for plastic on the threads and it will seal.

    Looks like a good idea.

I found a couple of sources for online purchases of single pieces. Can't vouch for either one though:

I dont use the sweep elbow version, Instead I use the regular tailpiece. Its cheaper and giver you more flexibility,

I would probably agree, but wasn't able to locate a source where an individual can purchase that.
