recoping my guinte pool

The key to removing the coping without causing damage to the tiles or plaster is to make plenty of relief cuts.

First, you should remove all of the caulking from between the coping and the deck using a razor knife or other suitable tool. Then, you should use a diamond blade masonry saw to cut out the grout between the coping stones.

Many of the coping stones will probably be loose enough to pull up by hand. Remove the loose stones. Then cut the remaining stones in half. Pull up the halves that will pull up by hand. You can use a rubber mallet to lightly tap on the stones to see if they will pop up. But, not too hard. Keep cutting the stones in half until they all come up.

You can use a 7-inch diamond blade masonry saw blade on a regular circular saw if the depth of the coping stones is about 2 inches, or less. If you have to cut deeper than 2 inches, then you could rent a cut-off saw with a larger diameter blade.

Only cut through the stone, and not deeper.
