do i use stainless screws and washers to secure this pump to its base that it comes with the holes on the base do not line up. its a combo sand filter and pump 18 inch 1/2 hp pump thank you

I would use stainless steel on everything associated with the pool. Can post a picture of the base?

The pump doesn't always, or even usually, get secured to the base. Nearly all of the time it is just fine simply sitting there. If you do secure it, use stainless steel.

Mine just sits there on a pre-fab pad. It's not attached to anything except the pipe.
