getting ready to start it up

So I'm getting ready to get everything started and had a few questions.

Should I start the pump and let it run before getting my first tests done?

What order should I go for water testing? I read that salt is the first test done but then I'm kinda lost after that.

Thanks in advance

Yes, you want the pump running for at least an hour before you test the pool water (and quite a bit longer than that if you added salt in the last few hours).

You want to do chlorine and PH tests first, as they can change if you wait too long after taking a water sample. The order doesn't really matter after that. There is no need to do the salt test first, and you usually don't want to do it very first. It is just that some of the common salt tests have a waiting period, which can be happening while you are doing other tests.
