Should I backwash in low speed?

Just wondering if this can be done. I can get the pump to prime in low (takes a bit of work). The reason I'm asking is that I haven't received the speed control switch I ordered yet, and I temporarily wired the pump for low speed operation while waiting for the motor
end-cap/switch to show up in the mail. Sorry for asking so many questions about pumps, but swapping out the old motor for a 2-speed gives me another "toy" in the pumphouse to play with

No harm in trying but I doubt it will be very effective. Just guessing, but I would think you need all the water velocity you can muster to dislodge the dirt and push it up and away from the sand.

Again, no damage possible that I can think of but it would certainly be less effective and perhaps enough less to not make it worthwhile.

I agree with Duraleigh, probably just a waste of water as you won't lift the sand bed enough to expand it and wash off the dirt. rule of thumb if possible backwash at twice the filtration rate.

Sounds like a plan, I'll just wait until I have the ability to easily switch between high and low speed.
