    FREEZE PILLOW

    what is the idea in putting a pillow/tubing in pool for freezing?

    It makes it easier to pool the collected water and leaves near the side of the pool so it's easier to reach. A lot of people don't use pillows and manage just fine.

    Pillows don't do much in terms of absorbing the pressure of ice expansion since they float on the surface
