Our pool has developed a leak in the liner, we must close it so it is too late to install a new liner. can we just let it drain out and replace the liner in the spring? We understand that we not be able to cover it, but will the walls be damaged with no water in it over the winter. We live in the Chicago area so it will be snowy and cold.

How much of a leak are we talking about? What sized pool? Do you know the location/size of the rip/tear/hole?
it is a 24' round leaking about an inch per day. We know the plumbing and filter are not leaking, but we do not know where it is leaking from.
If it has not leaked past the skimmer and return yet, then it may be leaking at one of those places. Have you checked around the pool for wet or soft ground?
