weird backwash valve

Hello,
I need help backwashing a purex triton II filter. Where there should be a valve to change the water flow there is a weird handle type thing. How do I use this?

If yours is like mine, you twist the handle about 90 degrees then push it down to reverse the flow.

htat's the one I'll bet you. It's hard for me to tell exactly, but if it is like mine, here's how it works. Roll out your backwash hose, turn off your pump (don't move the valve with the pump on), turn the handle 90 degrees, then push down on it toward the ground. This will probably put it in backwash mode.

I was just reading that some are pulled up instead of pushed down, so try each.

RobbieH thanks for the advice went off without a hitch...super simple. It was needed badly, went from 30 psi to 15 psi. yikes!
