It appears to be the same stuff http://www.commonchemistry.org/Chemi...x?ref=108-80-5

You can find what you need at the pool store, possibly at a big box store with a pool aisle, even some home improvement stores if they have a pool section. They may call it stabilizer or conditioner. You want the highest percentage of cyanuric acid possible.

Troublefree does not mean Maintenancefree. It's like brushing your teeth: You can spend a couple minutes a day and pennies a week or go to the dentist once a year and spend several thousand dollars.
A pool is like a pet - you have to feed it every day, even the days you don't want to play with it!

if it's a fine powder, should I still use the sock method to introduce in the pool? or can I mix with water the put in pool, or can I simply just spread around the pool evenly?

Still put it in the sock, or since you have a cartridge filter and if you're sure you won't need to clean it for at least a week, you can pour it slowly into the skimmer.

if I poor it into the skimmer, how long do you think it will take till it disolves or takes effect?

Either way you add it you should assume it is effective within 24hrs, but will not be able to confirm the level via testing for one week.

Chlorine can be tested as soon as it's mixed into the water.
