Using muriatic acid to clean the flow switch

How do I use the muriatic acid to clean the flow switch? Do I let it soak, use a toothbrush, both, none of the above?

Are you sure it needs cleaning? It is quite unusual for the flow switch to get calcium scaling.

If you do have obvious calcium scaling, soak in a mixture of one part 31.45% muriatic acid to four parts water for as long as it continues to foam, then rinse throughly.

Thank, Jason. I don't know but I've done everything else suggested so it's my last attempt before calling in a professional.
