    How am I doing?

I just wanted someone to take a peak and tell me if I'm headed the right way.....Any input helpful - Thanks!

----Pool installed 10th and filled 11th, 1st chems in.

Test result for last 4 days: (oldest first)

    12th:
    78 degrees
    FC 0
    TC 2
    PH 7.5
    TA 80
    CH 100
    CYA 0

---eve: added cya 2.5lbs (for first time) and chlorine (not together)

    ---------------------------------------------------
    13th:
    80 degrees
    FC 4
    TC 5
    PH 6.8
    TA 60
    CH 100
    CYA 20

---eve: added to up ph and ta (not together)

    -------------------------------------------------------
    14th:
    81 degrees
    FC 4
    TC 5
    PH 7.2
    TA 80
    CH 100
    CYA 20

    ----eve: added to up ta

    -----------------------------------------------------
    15th:
    79 degrees (ugh)
    FC 5
    TC 5
    PH 7.0
    TA 70
    CH 100
    CYA 20

It rained 2 inches on 13th & 14th (collective) - Is that why my ph & ta is wavering? I have to drain some water this afternoon.

So I guess, I'm looking for approval or criticism - how am I doing?

    Thanks so much

    Re: How am I doing?

With crystal clear water, you are doing great!!

I'm not sure why your pH has fluctuated some. Keep an eye on it over the next few days and, if it trends downward, get some 20 mule team Borax and bring it up to around 7.4-7.6

Your TA is fine, the test is only valid + or - 10ppm

I would suggest one thing....raise your CYA to 40-50ppm....you'll use a lot less chlorine.

    Nice work!

    Re: How am I doing?

I want the cya up, but I thought I had to wait up to 5 days to "see" it all....should I put more in without waiting? I guess I got confused on that one (If it matters, I used the sock method)

    Re: How am I doing?

I'm not sure I understand. Did you calculate a dosage of CYA larger than 20 and put it in the pool?

    Re: How am I doing?

I put in what was supposed to get me to 40, as far as it calculated. But it's not reading that.

    Re: How am I doing?

Wait 5-7 days to test CYA because you just waste reagent testing sooner.
Do you know the % of the CYA you used?
