    CYA and chlorine

Hi! I've been going over the pool school again as far as keeping the chlorine up and your CYA. I'm a week into keeping my levels up after converting from Baquacil. Everything is looking good but I'd like to make sure I'm doing this correctly. I test in the evenings and plug that FC number in as my now then use 5 as my target. My CYA is still a little low at about 20. I put my last pound in today to hopefully hit 30. Should I be using a higher target for my FC and assume my CYA is going to come up?? Thanks for the help.

Targeting an FC of 5 is fine. Since you have added enough CYA to get you to 30, then that is what you should be using to target your FC. Your CYA will show an increase eventually.

Thanks, after relying on the pool store for 4 years, it feels good to be taking care of things myself. The guidance is comforting though! No way I would attempt this without the input from everyone here.
