Did you get your Phosphate level tested?

Did you get your Phosphate level tested at the pool store? Before draining your pool to get the cya down to 40 ppm, you might want to check your Phosphate level. I have found the following links helpful.

Phosphates... that looks an awful lot like forum spam.
The basic tenet is that if you get and keep your pool properly chlorinated, you won't have algae. If you don't have algae, you needn't worry about or spend money on algae food (phosphate) control.

neophyte, welcome to TFP!

While removing phosphates can help slow, or even prevent, algae growth, chlorine alone does a perfectly fine job for less money and with far less trouble.

There is no reason or need to address phosphates, present or absent, in a properly sanitized swimming pool. If you have the correct amount of chlorine, phosphates are nary an issue.

I see. After using up the 9 liter of Phosphate free chemical, I will discontinue its use. Thanks!
