How level do these pools need to be? Mine is about 4 inches difference from one side to the other? Is this going to cause problems?

4" is a little much...up to 2 would be fine...but with 4" it could hold, but it also could fail...tough call.
When I had one it was a good 6"+ out of level. We had it for 2 years without failure, but of course your mileage may vary. It was neat having a shallow and deep end 
The thing to look out for is the poles sinking on the heavy end, and the light end poles lifting off the ground.
