This might be a stupid question but I am thinking of buying a fountain that attaches to my return jet to keep water cooler but was thinking that if it is hooked up to the return jet would that not cause problems with circullation?

Then I wouldn't do it. To take out your one and only return for that purpose could end up being problematic. The water needs to move.
Why not run your pump for just maybe a few more hours than normal with the fountain attached to it? I intend to try mine in Texas pretty soon!
I think that is what i am going to do. I really want a fountain so I think I will run it maybe when we are swimming and when we are not just run the pump at night without the fountain.
