I did the sock method and ran the filter till it was dispersed. My question is do I need to run the filter now 24/7 for a week, I was planning on running it about 16 0n 8 off, since its been on 24/7 for the past month.

You do not need to run the filter 24/7.
You should wait a week before retesting for CYA because it can take a while to show up in the test.
For the purposes of target FC level you should assume that you are already at the CYA level that you targeted.
