intex pool and deck build

Your pool looks amazing! We are in the process of putting an Intex up now. The ground is completely level now and I thought the pool would be going up today, but my husband has talked to someone who recommended putting Vermiculite underneath. Did you use anything under your pool (besides leveled dirt?) Just trying to see if this is going to be necessary. More money to spend and more time to order the stuff and put the stuff down, etc. Thanks!

I can see why they want to come over, we have a 20x48 intex AGP. right now we are having issues with the pump that came with the kit. I noticed you upgraded to the Intex sand filter.

the intex sand filter was the best upgrade by far that i have done . it is night and day difference over the pump that came with the pool. the sand filter keeps the pool much cleaner and has alot more power. that would be the first recommendation that i would give anyone looking to upgrade their intex pool! :-D

i replaced the ground cloth that came with the pool and ordered a liner shield to go under the pool . it is good strong material and keeps sharp objects and grass and weeds by protecting the liner underneath. it has worked out great 2 years now! but anything i think is better than the ground cloth that came with it!

JFYI, if anyone is looking to hard plum their sand filters and the pool fittings, i just learned about a new connection to be used with the 1 1/2 PVC and the intex screw on nuts with almost no modification. they are at lowes in the electrical dept. check under the above ground pool section under custom PVC pipe adapter for intex pools for all the info!

I want to buy a pentair pump, filter, and heater. Do you know if this is the same sort of tweaking to the intex I'll need to do for that equipment to hook to Intex?

i dont know why not. the home depot adapters which was the carlon adapters worked great on my 16x48 with the intex sand filter. it uses the same screw on adapters that i used on the pool fittings to connect to 1 1/2'' PVC so i would have to think that the pentair also uses the 1 1/2'' fitting as well. also there is virtually no modification needed on the cantex adapter based on the other posters info! :)

Nice deck, jsf.

I'd like to build one for our little pool next summer.

There doesn't seem to be many Intex users who've gone through with a deck though...at least I haven't been able to find many pics.

Would like to get more ideas. Love that slide!

so i have redone my plumbing on the fountain so i could mount it on the outside of the pool connecting it to my old suction port using the cantex 1 1/2'' box adapters to connect to the intex hose nuts. i used an old smaller face plate to screw it into the connection behind the strainer cover inside the pool and sealing the opening shut to prevent water from coming out of the port. it is a perfect fit! no work, no hassle, NO MODIFICATION! here are some pics....20029.jpg[/attachment:3uy5sbmt]29861.jpg[/attachment:3uy5sbmt]26955.jpg[/attachment:3uy5sbmt]

thank you! the deck was built by a friend of mine and me. it is not a profesionally built job but it works pretty good! as far as the slide goes, the kids enjoy it and the fountain the most. i have enjoyed the deck more than i thought i would. the kids keep their feet and the pool clean and they just like jumping off the deck into the pool! :-D

:-D chillin in the pool on a hot sat afternoon :whoot:  :wave:32945.jpg[/attachment:20gm1fjs]38014.jpg[/attachment:20gm1fjs]44101.jpg[/attachment:20gm1fjs]
