Checking SWG's on eBay, I found an Intex unit for about $160. Everything else seems to be $600+. The Intex specifically says "for above ground pools only, not for inground". How does the SWG know the difference? Does anyone know if this would actually work? My pool is small, only about 11K gallons.

been there. done that, 11,000 gallons is easily handled by the Intex. Be aware of the plumbing connection requirements. I would avoid the new CS model Intex, they halved the chlorine production capacity to add a copper ionizer. The controls might be better, but I haven't heard from anyone who is familiar with the old one try the new one.
Good Luck, and Best Wishes!!
