Pool is cloudy. We cannot get a chlorine or free chlorine reading in our SWG pool. All other readings good: Ph, Alkalinity, Stabalizer.
We just installed a new Jandy AquaPure cell and panel (5 year old system was deemed to be bad as this was the "reason" our pool was cloudy the last year or so). We set at 30% and ran on boost. Added 8 gal of liquid chlorine over 2 days. Reset AquaPure to 50% and boosted again. No chlorine readings! Help!

Hey,

Welcome to the forum. The chances are quite good that you need to shock your pool. Can you post a recent set of test results? That'll take out the guesswork and we'll help you get started towards clearing your pool.

You can also check the production of your SWCG cell by getting a hose and a bucket. Put one end of the hose in the bucket on the deck and take the other end of the hose and put it over one of your returns so that it forces water up the hose and into the bucket. Then, take a sample of water from the bucket and check for chlorine. If you have some, at least you know that your cell is working.

Ph 7.8; free chlorine 0; Total Alkalinity 120; Stabalizer 30-50
Again, we shocked the pool with 8 gal of Chlorine over 2 days...no free chlorine readings
You didn't really shock the pool as we define it. Shocking is a process that can take several days sometimes to actually complete. An indicator that it is complete is when the chlorine begins to hold and not disappear.

There is an article in Pool School called How to Shock your Pool. If you follow that process, you will be able to keep chlorine in the pool and have crystal clear water.
