Inflating Inflatables

I use a small compressor to inflate my inflatables. For some inflatables, as soon as I remove the compressor to close the plastic nipple on the inflatable, some air comes out of the inflatable. What do you do to prevent this? For large inflatables, the loss is negligible, but for things like vests, I'd like to have them filled to their capacity. Any help is appreciated.

pinch the valve closed with fingers while removing compressor from valve and then replace cap.
