how long for cya

I put enough cya in a sock 3 days ago to get me in the 70-80 range (swg) and I am still getting a reading about 30 or so. Should the reading be going up gradually, I started at 30ppm.

I read here it takes a week to get a good reading, do I need to be more patient? When do you get to a point when you just add more?

I did backwash a few times, but nothing drastic. I am shocking at a cya of 30ppm. Today my fc is 4.5, it was 10ppm on monday, I am going to add about 3 gallons tonight. Oh my cc is .5

CYA seems to take about a week to register on the test.

Once I add it, I assume it is active and immediately adjust my FC target (i.e. FC minimum) up per the Chlorine/CYA chart at the following link:

ethany, is the sock in front of a return or in the skimmer basket? If it's in front of a return, be patient; if it's in the skimmer basket, you might have lost some in the backwash.

Its in front of return. Monday will be a week.

Did it all dissolve from the sock? What was the % active ingredient of CYA?
(I once bought some that was only 50% and didn't realize it till I tested and did not reach my target...then I read the ingredient content. LOL)
