Having some phosphates in the water is not a problem at all. While eliminating phosphates from the water can slow or stop algae growth, it doesn't protect you from bacteria or viruses, for which you need chlorine. Chlorine alone completely stops algae and bacteria and viruses, so there isn't much point in spending money on phosphate removers when chlorine does everything you need done for less money and more simply.

All of the best sequestrants contain phosphates.
