Safety cover as a solar blanket?

What do you think about this one? I was wondering if I used my safety cover in the shoulder seasons for a quick substitute for a solar blanket to primarily help decrease evaporation during the cooler nights. Since there are fasteners already in the cement, using about six to hold in place could be an option? Anyone try this or is this just crazy thinking??

Welcome to TFP

The purpose of a solar cover is primarily to reduce evaporation, so only a solid cover would have an effect. I can't imagine a solid safety cover being quicker than a solar blanket, and it wouldn't be easier. Even a mesh one is a royal pain to put on and remove.
