Digital Testers

The AquaChek TruTest Digital is not at all precise. There are inherent problems with test strips. No matter how well the electronic portion can read the color, the color isn't especially precise to begin with.

Stay away from the E-Pool, not only does it lack precision, but a high percentage of them were failing last season after on a few weeks (or days in some cases).

The ColorQ is quite good, probably the best of what you can get for under $200. It's PH, FC, and CC readings are excellent as long as FC is below 10 and the CH level isn't too high. Its other tests are not as precise, but mostly usable.

The pH Testr 2 and pH Pocket Pal are alright as long as you get the calibration solutions and calibrate them occasionally. The pH Testr 2 is much easier to calibrate.

How high is too high for CH on the ColorQ one you stated?

CH levels starting around 500 and higher have been causing problems for several of the tests on the ColorQ. I notice that the spec for the ColorQ now lists a higher CH test limit, so there may have been improvements to avoid CH interference at higher CH levels, but last I heard there started to be issues around 500.
