What to do with Algaecide

At the end of last summer, before I discovered TFP, I bought 2 gallons of HtH AlgaeGuard. After searching the board, I see that it is referred to as a linear quat instead of a poly quat, it isn't terribly effective, and it can cause foaming. My question then: Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should do with it? I doubt it's something I want to throw in to a landfill. We do occasionally have household hazardous waste collections, so I could hang on to it until then, and turn it in.

How about using it as a winter treatment at closing.

Thats actually not a bad thing to do with it. Cant hurt. I've actually done it (with poly 60). i know it's somewhat BBB heresy

I agree, if it was PQ 60. But it's not.
Why put something in your pool that could cause foaming and isn't very effective anyway?

Oh,it's effective, just won't last as long. Since the pool is winterized, it won't foam.

Foaming wouldn't matter if your closing the pool. Linearquat is ok, just not ideal. I'd agree with you if the pool was staying open. It wont hurt anything and why waste it.
