Air bubbles/ Air Leak a problems for Pools?

If i have air running through my pool filter and system, does it reduce filter efficieny and further to that does it cause any other sort of problems?

Are there any literature i can fall back on as reference?

First off, you need to know where you're getting air from. Are you doing this intentionally?

Air will gather at the top of the filter so depending on where the discharge is drawn from it can certainly affect the operation of the filter. Depending on how much air is entrained it can also damage the pump due to cavitation.

Im seeing alot of airbubbles coming out of the plumbing, and found that the water has gone from clear to slightly turbid so was wondering if the airbubbles had any effec to the filter efficiency.

Bubbles are usually an indication of a pump suction side leak. You really need to try and find where it is and get that fixed.
