Replacing Skimmer

Hey folks,

Attached you'll see that I've just taken the concrete out from around my pool (18X36 In-Ground Vinyl). I now plan to replace all piping and the skimmer. I don't have a drain line.

The piping is straight forward enough, however I don't know what to expect when it comes to the skimmer. Is this a DIY job for a DIY'er? Anything I should know about before I get into it? Is it self explanatory once I get going?

Why do you want to replace it?

Mainly because it's 30 years old. I know I've got suction side leaks. And it's probably my last easy opportunity for another 30 years.
