If you have a lot of rain, that could affect pH (rainwater is usually acidic). Also if you're using trichlor tablets as your chlorine source, they are acidic too. Bleach will not lower pH.

In general you want your pH to find the happy medium. Low pH can damage things, high pH can lead to scaling. If you have a full set of test results we can be more specific.
