    I'm not getting a Chlorine reading!

    I have owned my pool now for 15 yrs. and have never had*
    >> *this problem before.*
    >> *After opening my pool this year, I shocked it and 4hrs. later added
    >> algicide.*
    >> *I filled my chlorinator with stabilized chlorine pucks and*
    >> *set it the same as every year.*
    >> *After a couple of days I checked my pool water and*
    >> *everything was reading OK, PH, Alkalinity, and the*
    >> *stabilizer was a little low. No chlorine reading on the strip.*
    >> *I've added more stabilizer to the water and brought the*
    >> *level up close to being perfect.*
    >> *I checked and made sure I had chlorine in the chlorinator.*
    >> *The water is nice and clear, there is no chlorine smell at all*
    >> *but the chlorine still does not show on the test strip.*
    >> *I checked the expire date and its good for another year.*
    >> *Just to be safe I purchased a new container of test strips*
    >> *and I come up with the same results, little to no chlorine.*

    you take care of your pool like pool stores tell you to do. you should read pool-school/ and you'll find a better way (imo) of doing it. my guess is your problem is not having cya and it's not being added fast enough by the pucks. I'm assuming you have an above ground pool you drain and refill each year? reading the article in pool school that says read this before you post on the forum would also help.

    You probably need to shock the pool. Sometimes when opening the pool will have a large chlorine demand, and you simply need to keep adding chlorine until you can maintain an FC level.
