When I run my DPD test, the color appears to be darker than the 5PPM mark so I wanted to try to determine exactly where I was. So I filled the vial half-way with pool water as mentioned in the instructions and the rest of the way with distilled water and ran the test. The test against the diluted water came up perfectly clear (not even a hint of pink). Any idea why? Is there something about distilled water that won't work?

Try mixing equal amounts of pool water and distilled in a separate clean container, and THEN filling your vial...
We recommend this method occasionally, but it is not as accurate as using FAS-DPD, which will measure very high FC.
