My Intex 1500 GPH (25 GPM) filter/pump is dieing. I want to replace it with something better and I found the Waterway-TWM-50. It has a 1 hp motor and a 50 square foot cartridge filter. It goes for $250 from Amazon.

I haven't been able to find out the flow-rate. I am sure it's better than the feeble Intex, but could it be too powerful? I rarely use the skimmer since the pool is almost always covered unless someone is in it, so that doesn't matter and I could make it work if I had to.
I also don't know what size particles it lets through. I want it to be able to catch dead algae, unlike the Intex.
