I have my TA at 60 but my Ph still goes up about .1 each day. I use about 3/4 of a gallon of MA a week. Is there any harm if I try to lower the TA down to 50 or even 40?

You can lower TA down to about 50, but I wouldn't go any lower than that. Very low TA levels allow the PH to shift too much when you are adding chemicals.
Was your pool built recently? Plaster pools will raise the PH for up to a year after they are built as the plaster cures.
