Newbie Questions...

Hello, I've been reading the forum for about a week and this is my first post. I bought the TF-100 test kit last week.

I think I'm on the verge of having this figured out and would like to confirm what I need to do next.
I've shocked the pool, over the last 3 days and the water is crystal clear. It was filled with new water about a month and a half ago. Never green but did start to get some algae on the bottom. Test results from this morning are;

FC 6.5
CC 0
PH 7.2
TA 50
CH 50
CYA 0 (Just added 2 days ago) Man I wish I knew about this before!

According to the pool calculator I need the following to reach the recommended targets;

PH 12 oz Borax
TA 1 lb 12 oz Baking Soda
Borates 22 lbs (4.6 boxes) Borax

You know, the Borates are completely optional, not essential...

Other than the CYA, your numbers are fine for operating the SWG - I suppose the PH could be bumped a tad.

I think I'll read up on the Borates some more. I've been trying to follow the BBB method to the letter since learning about it as it seems to produce great results fromeverything I've read.

I am looking forward to a great pool season (FINALLY) thanks to this forum!!
