I used to have the same problem all the time. If you want a quick, inexpensive fix, go to a farm supply store & pick up a barbed fitting (has ridges) for the hose to slide over. A hardware store should have them also. That will end your problem with the hose sliding off. One more observation..over time those single ply plastic hoses will develop pin hole leaks. I've converted all mine to braided hose also. No more problems. It can also be picked up at the farm supply store.
