I need to get my CYA up and decided to use tablets. I notice that there is 1.5% of Copper Sulfate pentahydrate in the ingredients. What effects will this have on my water chemistry and how will it effect my plaster?

it's a small amount of copper in each tablet but over time it will build up. It is also not a chelated copper so the chance of staining is much greater. I would just add the needed CYA and be done with it particularly with a SWG. It's going to be your most cost effective way to do it.
IT would be copper stains in the pool (blue, grey, black or tan and very difficult to remove in most cases) or it would be green hair on the swimmers!
